My first rule has always been, if the zipper is broken you should trash it and make/buy a new one. Secondly, while Aaron was “constructing” zippers I was still buying readymade ( expensive but second rule- I don’t construct zippers). EXCEPT at midnight when all you have is the Aaron zippers. So, I learned to manually construct them ( especially when Aaron is trying to decide if his customer is right-handed or left- handed- if you put two zipper heads on there nose to nose you don’t have to figure it out. But…. Manually loading a zipperhead isn’t easy and it’s not quick UNLESS you have a zipper jig (or three hands). Surely this jig is good for other things like tying flies? It’s a gem. I now know more about constructing zippers than that lady down at the upholstery shop and she does it all day every day. (She trimmed hunks off the end of my zipper to get it to accept a head ). I used to think I was smart because I could shorten a zipper ( my dressmaker friend said the problem with short zippers is they are so darn expensive (duh, you don’t know what you don’t know) now I’m even smarter cause I can load heads on a headless zipper. Watch out ya’ll, you never know what an old lady is gonna learn next.
