I have always told folks that edge paint sucked and didnt work.  I will have to admit now that I was WRONG.  Apparently there are the edge coatings and paints that do suck and then there are the ones which can produce some AMAZING results when properly applied.  I bought some of this from a supplier and sat down with several different types of leather experimenting.  I have found a way to create a professional edge on every leather I can find in the shop!
1.  Stir or mix the bottle well
2.  With your (unburnished) edge sanded and shaped, apply a liberal coat of edge paint.  You can use a dauber or an edge paint roller (coming soon to MLS)
3.  Wait until it is COMPLETELY DRY and sand lightly to smooth the paint- this allows it to fill the pores and fibers in the leather.
4.  Re-Apply the paint in the same manner as before.
5.  If the paint has not coated well yet, repeat steps 3 and 4 again.  I have found that the 3rd time is the charm.
This edge paint will a matte finish- if you prefer it to be a bit more glossy, rub it with bees wax then melt the wax in with a hot iron.  To get the tackiness of the wax off, I like to rub it with paper.
